Competition Assignments

All groups should propose an overall master plan for the site. Some groups might choose to focus on any of the other projects as well, but should fit their proposal within the scheme of their master plan.

Proposals will automatically be considered for all of these prizes. Teams will submit the deliverables on the last day of their residencies in order to receive their stipend. Teams will have an additional 10 days to refine or improve on their proposals at home before being considered for the prizes.

All prizes are in addition to the team stipend to be disbursed upon submission of deliverables.

Master Plan

A $10,000 grand prize will be awarded to the team with the best proposal for a master plan for the resort.

The master plan should detail resort expansion and development through 2025 including additional condo units, resort amenities, and Bonita Beach Blvd frontage component through the deliverables.

Frontage

A $5,000 prize will be awarded to the team with the best proposal for frontage component along Bonita Beach Boulevard.

Proposals should consider the short and long term when proposing a design for the space along the road, which may take the form of a temporary use that is converted later, or one permanent use. Teams should consider how this component of the project would operate as an attractor for visitors all year round. If the proposal is a temporary structure, what potential uses or programs could be incorporated? If permanent, how does the building look “full” all year even with fewer crowds?

Condos

A $5,000 prize will be awarded to the team with the best proposal for improving the design of the condo/rental buildings.

Teams may wish to optimize or improve the units, propose new uses for the ground floor parking after autonomous vehicles are introduced, or propose a specific aesthetic agenda which may help unite the resort into a cohesive whole. What changes could be made that would increase the value of the condos, reduce construction costs, or improve the appearance of the development.
